Every item in your kit, particularly essential tools like knives, compasses, and screwdrivers, can be upgraded. You could replace these tools with higher-quality items based on your budget.

Tip: If you plan to improve your survival gear, it is advisable to prioritize essential items such as tools, flashlights, and first-aid kits. Then, invest in secondary items later. The trick here is to do the upgrade gradually, you don't have to do it all at once so you don't hurt your budget.

May I suggest a small mirror to potentially “flag” air rescue as well as a fire starter & cutting tool? A waterproof “Sharpie” pen/marker w a sm pad of paper & a small amt of zip bags in which to leave notes posted to trees w sap or duct tape w your names, physical conditions & intended directions (tho it’s always best to stay put). Lastly, an assortment of bungee cords to be used as tie-downs for shelters & tourniquets.I don’t see the need for a tool for breaking glass when using one’s feet to kick out auto glass or perhaps any of the other tools in the kit will suffice. I might recommend a small pot, activated charcoal & spaghetti moss in which to purify water. The tablets readily available in sporting goods stores taste awful! Lastly, providing a list of most common poisonous plants could be helpful such as loison ivy/sumac, etc & emergency procedures to take in the event of a snake/animal bite, open fracture, med emergencies resulting from lack of regular meds such as diabetes, heart meds, epileptic, etc… This is all advice fr a former sage search & rescuer from 2 Colorado teams. Wishing you the very best of luck!
