Keep Your Family Fed When SHTF

Natural disaster can strike at any time, no matter where you live.

In some areas such as the central US, tornadoes are a common threat. Coastal folks have to worry about hurricanes. Out in California, drought and wildfires are a concern. These are only a few of the natural disasters you should always be prepared for by taking proper precautions and stocking up on necessary items.

Of course, one of the most important items is food. When disaster strikes, it's recommended that you have at least three days' worth of food per person in your household stored up and readily available. The first 72 hours post-disaster are vital. This is the time when things will be most chaotic, communication will be difficult, power may be out, and any number of other factors may impede your ability to procure and prepare food for yourself and your family.

The video below, from Oklahoma Gardening on YouTube, teaches you how to assemble a “disaster preparedness food kit” for situations such as these. Watch the video and be sure to share your ideas in the comments below.
