I love coming across new life hacks online.

These hacks are great for preppers and survivalists because they help us keep our improvisation skills sharp. You never know when you’ll have to make a tool or gadget out of just the things you have on hand.

You’ll be surprised that rubber bands can be quite useful. They’re extremely versatile and almost everyone has a pile of them sitting in a drawer in their house.

When you end up with too much paint on your brush, just wipe or scrape the paintbrush on the rubber band to release excess paint until you have just enough left to continue painting.

Come lunch break, just remove the rubber band and enjoy.

rubber-band-hacks-31

Not only does it make it easier to transport the apple as a “whole”, it also prevents it from browning.

5. Remove a Stripped Screw

rubber-band-hacks-32

A screw head in this condition will not be easy to remove.

rubber-band-hacks-33

To solve this problem, use a rubber band.

rubber-band-hacks-34

Just place a band in between the screw head and the screwdriver tip, the rubber will increase the grip and make it possible to unscrew.

6. Beer Marker

When you invite friends over for a party, help them distinguish which beer bottle is theirs by giving them a different colored rubber band to wrap around their own bottle.

Put a rubber band over the lid to provide you with a better grip and make it finally possible for you to open that jar.

rubber-band-hacks-49

It’s much easier to open now.

Let’s try it on the dreaded pickle jar.

10. Keep a Door from Locking

rubber-band-hacks-61

When you need to step out but do not want the door to automatically lock behind you, use a rubber band to keep it open.

rubber-band-hacks-64

rubber-band-hacks-65

Anchor one end on the inside knob, stretch it and anchor the other end to the outside knob, pushing the bolt inwards and keeping it unlocked.

rubber-band-hacks-66

This way, even if the door is closed, it does not lock you out. In fact, it’s so easy to open, your dog can do it!
