FARMING: How to Make a $1500 Sandwich in Only 6 Months
Farming Lessons for Preppers
We came across this amazing video this morning and just had to share it with you all.
It will SO make you appreciate the American Farmer and learn a few lessons on how to be really self-reliant.
So check it out, and be sure to share with a friend.
Self-reliance is one of the foundations of preparedness. In order to survive disruptive events, you need to be able to make it on your own. There is no better example of self-reliance than farming. The importance of food can never be stressed enough, especially in the aftermath of a SHTF event. It will surely ensure your survival when you can grow your own food, even without acres of land to till.
Your backyard, garden, greenhouse or even your patio or windowsill can provide enough space for planting vegetables and plants. Having tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, cabbage among others to harvest would not only give you food but also comfort and hope. After some kind of disaster, spirits would be low but knowing that there will be something to eat will give you strength to go on.
You may have supplies available for now but farming will ensure that food will still be on the table when stored food will run out. Think of farming as survival gardening. It's important to know the basics of growing food such as the location of your garden, soil preparation, proper selection of seeds and plants, garden tools as well as the pests that your plants may have.
Apart from tomatoes and the other crops previously mentioned, here are some suggestions for anyone who is a newbie to farming: basil, chives, green beans cress, sprouts, strawberries, summer squash and zucchini.
Farming as an exercise in self-reliance is undeniably taxing, but it is more important to have food to survive than having nothing at all.
