Did you ever think that you would need and have an interest in learning survival skills when you first started traveling in your RV?

With all the doomsday scenarios floating around, how do know what the best place would be for you? Where would it be safe? These questions have got much thinking, and if you already have an RV, it makes sense to learn about prepping and survival, (temporary or long-term), where you have the ability to “bug out” if needed.

RVing and Prepping – Something to Think About

Prepping just sounded so “out there” that you weren't quite sure it was something you wanted to be involved with or would ever need? This has all changed in the past few years.

The first advantage you have with your “ultimate bug-out vehicle” is that you have the ability to move around the country to an area you feel most comfortable with.

There are many “safe zones” that are suggested on the internet if you do a little research. When arriving at your chosen spot, you already have a roof over your head, food in your pantry, water in your freshwater tank, and are now eager to learn prepping skills for your survival.

Some of you may have already installed solar panels on the roof of your recreational vehicle with a battery bank, but if you haven't, maybe this is a consideration. Most RVers have generators, but with no fuel, they won't run.

The most important basis for your survival is water. It is a fact that a person can only survive 3 days without water. Some RVers have already taken into consideration the risk of connecting to different water sources at each campsite they move to, and have various systems they use.

The most important thing to note is that you need to have safe water without electricity. There are several systems available from as little as $30.00 to $1000.00 depending on your available space

The second basic for survival is food. There are several manufacturers of emergency survival foods, typically we are talking about freeze-dried food, good for 7 yrs to as long as 25 yrs.

Here are a few names that are prepping favorites: Wise Foods, 4 Patriots, AlpineAire, Legacy/efoods, Mountain House, Lindonfarms. The advantage to Freeze Dried food is that it is compact and very lightweight and easily stored in your recreational vehicle. Make sure not to exceed your manufacturer's Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

Keep in mind that your RV as your bug-out vehicle will be a big target if civil unrest breaks out, and you should have a safe location picked out and ready to escape to within 48 hours of the outbreak.

It is always a good idea to keep your RV fully fueled and the freshwater tank filled to capacity. Try to keep it stocked as much as possible with food and essential survival supplies so you can bug out within a short period of time. If we have a total economic collapse, and we will, will you be prepared?? Good luck to us all…
