DIGITAL PRIVACY: Is Your Phone Spying On You?
I'll admit it: I love my cell phone.
I love having the ability to answer any question I have by pushing a couple of buttons. I love that I can set reminders and keep my life in order…and play games. I've even used it as a flashlight before when I was in a bind. Heck, I've even heard you can use them to talk to people!
Cell phones are great, but they're becoming too much of a good thing. Our culture is becoming too reliant on them. (I'm guilty myself sometimes…)
But what's even worse is how much of our privacy we're giving up for the sake of convenience.
Most people don't even realize how much their cell phone is used to spy on them and that their personal data is being sold.
But unfortunately, it's happening to all of us.
Luckily there are steps you can take to keep yourself safe…
Recently, AT&T surprised everyone when it added a new option to its GigaPower fiber Internet service: privacy. Yes, for just $29 more a month AT&T promises it WON'T sell your search and browsing history to advertisers. How generous.
While there's still some doubt about how private your information is even after you pay the $29, at least AT&T is being honest about how it finances operations. The truth is, the major cellphone carriers are more than happy to sell your information to advertisers and serve you targeted ads over their networks.
I'm going to tell you how to stop them, and at the end I'll discuss other ways carriers and advertisers are working to get your information.
