The Fourth of July has as much to do with our independence as 25 December is jesus’s Birthday. 04 July is when two politicians signed a piece of paper. We declared our independence fifteen months prior on 19 April 1775 when patriots defended the armories at Lexington and Concord. By 04 July we had hundreds of dead Americans defending our independence the politicians had no real contribution.
From 1620 to 1770 we had 150 years of American liberty and freedom. The colonies were not supported by Europe for the most part. Stopping the French in the seven years war brought them to the new world and the tyranny came with them. We told them on 19 April 1775 that we weren’t up to their heavy handed politics. That was Independence Day. As a soldier it is a sacred day
