I’m trying to get my head around this survival tip:

“These no-cook overnight oats take minimal effort – just layer the ingredients, throw it in the fridge overnight, then grab it on your way out the door.”

If its a survival situation, why is my refrigerator still running? And if it is, then I can also boil water on the stove to make cooked oats.

A more survival-like situation might be to cook oatmeal overnight in a thermos. Get boiling water from your evening camp fire, pour it in the thermos with the oats, and then eat it, still warm, in the morning without having to start a new fire. Starting early like that will keep me one step ahead of the zombies.
