As the nation’s least populated state and with over 3 million acres of wilderness, Wyoming offers plenty of opportunities for camping and outdoor adventure, far away from the hustle and bustle of civilization. This is a place where you can truly get in touch with nature, get back to your roots and foster a love of the great outdoors.

There are so many great camping spots in Wyoming, we had trouble narrowing it down to just 10. Check out our list below, and be sure to let us know in the comments if you think there’s one we left off!

1. Yellowstone National Park

Established in 1872, Yellowstone is the very first national park in the United States and the world. It became popular because this vast park has the greatest number of geysers in one place. In addition, Yellowstone National Park has a wide variety of flora and fauna that is mostly untouched. Learn more here.

2. Grand Teton National Park

Grand Teton National Park offers a stunning mountain landscape that makes you feel like you have been transported to another world. 3. Buffalo Bill State Park

The majestic peaks of the Absaroka Mountains dominate the scenery at Buffalo Bill State Park. Two campsites, North Fork and North Shore, have a limited number of reservable sites. Click here for more information.

4. Esterbrook Campground

A rustic campground located in the Medicine Bow National Forest, Esterbrook Campground features spacious sites. Some campsites feature views of the creek below, while others are nestled among dense pine trees. Learn more here.

5. Glendo State Park

Glendo State Park is one of southern Wyoming’s most popular boating parks. It offers visitors water-skiing, fishing and other water- based activities. Fishing is so good that Glendo has several fish records. Learn more here.

6. Seminoe State Park

Nestled up against the base of the Seminoe Mountains at the North end of Seminoe Reservoir lies one of Wyoming’s true treasures, Seminoe State Park. Located 33 miles north from Sinclair, Wyoming on Carbon County road 351, Seminoe State Park is know for its wide open water, local attractions and friendly atmosphere. Learn more.

7. Leigh Lake

This lake, located inside Grand Teton National Park, is such a great camping destination we decided to give it a spot of its own on our list. Although easily accessed by canoe, kayak, or foot, Leigh Lake has the feel of a backcountry lake. Not only can recreationists enjoy a unique camping experience or a fun day on the lake, but will also witness awe-inspiring vistas and sunsets. Learn more here.

8. Curt Gowdy State Park

Curt Gowdy State Park has seven sections of richly varied landscape, flora and fauna decorate the foothills of the Laramie Mountains. The beautiful attractions within Curt Gowdy State Park are near the crossroads of two major interstates, I-80 and I-25. There are three reservoirs, Granite, Crystal and North Crow. Learn more here.

9. Guernsey State Park

Guernsey State Park provides seven campgrounds. Five are around the lake. All campgrounds include comfort stations, picnic tables, fire grills and drinking water. The park’s extensive trail system makes it one of the most popular places to hike in Wyoming. Learn more here.

10. Boysen State Park

Boysen State Park is one of the larger parks in the State Park System. It is a lake-orientated park at the south end of the Owl Creek Mountains at the mouth of Wind River Canyon now part of the Wind River Canyon Scenic Byway. It offers a variety of water type recreation. Learn more here.
