Alternative Weapons | Gunless Defense in a Crisis

Weapons to Utilize

We survivalists love our guns and are rarely without them, especially when danger is near. But like it or not there may come a time when you will be without it, whether because of an oppressive government or simply running out of ammo.

What would you do in this situation? Alternative weapons might be the answer.

In a survival situation, self-defense is very important. When SHTF, law and order are thrown out the window.

It will be chaotic beyond imagination. Resources will run out and there will be a big number of people desperate to obtain the things they need.

The only way for them to survive is to take what you have. It would not matter to them if they have to break into your home and steal what they need.

In the process, you and your loved ones could get hurt.

The problem is if the EOTW comes at a time when the government would not allow you to have any gun at home. You have to find other ways to defend yourself, your family, as well as your property.

In a lawless land, you are going to need self-defense weapons. No prepper wants to be in a life and death situation.

Apart from having alternative weapons, you should also have the skills required to use those weapons effectively.

Survival Defense When Guns Are Not Allowed

In the time before a major crisis occurs, private ownership or use of firearms, crossbows, alternative ranged weapons may be illegal and banned. As the situation gets worse, the government will impose martial law and confiscate weapons no matter how well you may think they are hidden.

Here are a few weapons that may be overlooked and that can be used to protect your family and loved ones.

Edged Weapons

|

Edged weapons are the oldest implements used by man. Then, as now, you can make knives and other edged weapons from flint, obsidian, bronze, arsenic copper-bronze, tin-bronze, iron.

Today, there are three kinds of steel you may be interested in:

Damascus steel originated in India about 5th century BC. The steel was heated to red hot, hammered, folded, and then quickly cooled in water.

This process was repeated at least 500 times. This produced better weapons-grade steel.

Carbon steel will rust if exposed to air and moisture. The rust if heavy will flake off causing the steel to weaken and break.

Stainless steel is an alloy with a minimum of 10% chromium by mass. Stainless steel does not rust or stain by water as ordinary steel does.

When heated the chromium becomes chromium oxide that acts to form an air and watertight film that seals off the metal. This steel comes in many grades and finishes.

The following edged survival tools and weapons can be used as a substitute for firearms for protection. All of them can be dipped in poison so that even a single glancing blow can be a lethal one.

Farm Tools

You might be wondering why this counts among the survival weapons list. Any of the metal farming or gardening tools can be used as weapons to protect yourself or the family.

The spade, rake, pitchfork, pick, sickle, hand hoe, and garden claw all make excellent choices for either offensive or defensive weapons. (via Survival Defense When Guns Are Not Allowed)

Your greatest weapon during those times is your mind. As early as now, you have to learn how to analyze crisis situations and make the best decisions as quickly as possible.

The goal is to be one step ahead of the enemy. If you are able to outsmart the enemy, then consider that the enemy is defeated.

The key is to keep your presence of mind. Take control of your emotions to avoid panicking.

When you keep your cool, the situation is easier to assess and control.

It is essential to come out with a home and self-defense strategy before a survival situation even occurs. Start a discussion with your family to think of all possible crisis situations and choose the best way to handle them.

Practice the strategy so that you will all be ready when it happens.

The banning of weapons needs to stop. People need to really ban together and say enough! The UK is already starting a ban on Knives…. If something isn’t done to curtail this garbage, were all screwed.

The opposition to the guns have banned together and they are winning the fight. Walmart CEO said he received 130,000 signatures across his desk to stop selling guns. He reacted to this by curtailing the ammo he sells. Other sporting goods stores have stop selling guns in the past and have not suffered setbacks. We need to ban together and make OUR voices heard. Change.org has worked effectively in reducing gun and ammo sales. How can we fight this?
      I’m open to suggestions

Concealed carry needs to be the law of the land in all 50 states. We now
have Muslim terrorists in America, but the weak-kneed politicians won’t do anything, for they may offend their illegal voter blocks that got them elected.

California is a good example of a one party government; we the illegal’s, not we the people in America anymore.

Why should Americans have to ask the US government for their God given rights like the 1st & 2nd amendments and request a CCW permit anyway?

Whoose country is it? Basic NRA gun class is what we need.

    Comonsense, yes?

Hmmm use a knife…. now who would have thought of that? Telling us what the knives are made of is equally useless. Telling people how to use a knife might have been more helpful. Most people hold them wrong when using them for defense. That and they grab kitchen knives that don’t have a hand guard….do you want your fingers sliding down the blade? I have proper knives in almost every room in my house…. why, because in an intruder situation you can be across a room with a knife in less time than most people can raise a gun to fire it….. plus statistics have shown that most people miss 60% of the time with a hand gun. Someone with a little training can gut you like a trout before that gun could ever come into play. And there is a psychological advantage as well. People watch too much TV violence. Intruders aren’t expecting you to attack them if they have a gun. And getting stabbed hurts. True if they’re 40 feet away it’s bringing a knife to a gun fight but closer in they brought a gun to a knife fight and its the intruder who is likely to loose that one. So how long would it take you to get your pistol out of the safe? And for a little more advantage can you say machete, or hand ax? Is there some reason the bad guys in horror movies all use edge weapons? Fear perhaps?

There is not such thing as a knife fight. Unless you are trained properly, it’s simple one on one butchery. Get trained properly. If you cannot defend yourself, properly trained, with a properly carried Barretta Nano, or empty hand, then get training and practice to use ANYTHING as a weapon. My daughter was ejected from school one day because her pants had little chains riveted all over them. Riveted… NOT removeable. But the principal decided they could be used as weapons. I walked into his office empty-handed and showed him how many things I had on my person that could become weapons, from shoe laces to my belt, cell phone to my pocket pen and keys… and more… then I showed him the things on his desk that could be weapons… I left him sitting in his chair ashen with understanding that he was an idiot. Get trained properly. But always, always, always, be aware of your surroundings and if you don’t feel comfortable where you are, get the hell out of there as fast as you can. Better to not have to fight, believe me!
