Violent Crime: A Little Too Close To Home?
While doing a bit of research I ran across a website that compiles a listing of all the violent crime in U.S. cities and then ranks them from 1-100.
After reading through the list I have to say I am a little bit shocked at which ones are in the top 20.

This is the dumbest and most inaccurate list ever. I live in Daytona Beach (ranked #34, laughable). Violent crime here is all but non-existent. Meanwhile, an hour west is Orlando, which was the murder capital of the country a few years back… and it ranks #67. LA is not even on this list, neither is New York City. This is the dumbest and most inaccurate list ever.

I’ve lived in 3 of them and I also find these lists incredibly inaccurate and in most cases not based on reality.
Most cities have their ghetto areas where a majority of violent crime takes place. If you play with the numbers and stretch out the mean to support your ‘facts’ you can have certain cities show up on a list that really don’t warrant a place there.

Have visited and/or worked in, several, counted 30 of the 100, ( years of field service work) of those on the list.
Have to consider it very suspect.

I am from Cleveland and I believe that Cleveland ranks 33rd in having the amount of violent crimes per 1000 as stated.
Also, my family and I just traveled to and from New Jersey and we passed through Trenton, NJ (listed # 29 and worse than Cleveland!) to see some historical places such as the historic site in Trenton called “The Barracks” where there are very old buildings that housed British soldiers during the Revolutionary War. That historic site was for the most part very nicely maintained (currently some parts under re-construction, but within a mile radius there were large portions that looked like bombed ghettos. During the day the streets were empty, but I would hate to be there after dark!

Just look for democrat controlled, liberal maggot zones and you will find the violence.

Detroit is number 6, Washington DC is number 46 and Chicago is I believe 79.

I live an hours drive from Flint and Saginaw, MI. If you drive 10 miles in any direction you are in the middle of a bean field! The violence is not speading outward, there is no money for urban sprawl, so we just shake our heads, and avoid driving thru the bad parts. And Detroit! Don’t get me started! They have spent and crony’d them selves into a hole since the days of Coleman Young.

We live 7 miles from Saginaw, MI, 30 minutes from Flint, MI and 2.5 hours north of Detroit, MI. Certain areas are very violent, but once away from these it becomes safe as in between there is much farmland and other forms of agriculture. As one person said previously, the violent areas tend to be where Libiot, Occutarded, DemoKKKrats run the show via their programs of idiocy to keep their constuents in “need” of their help all of the time. About like Chavez “helping” the people of Venezuela by liberating the $2,000,000,000 to his own pockets.

I find this list interesting. There are two things that need to be noted in this list is that 1. violent crimes include all incidents that fall under a specific classification, this means assaults, rapes,forcible entry, etc. 2. Almost all of the cities with the exception of a few are located in the Eastern half of the United States.
Most people define whether a city is violent or not by one criteria and this listing goes beyond that. It will be significant to see what the updated report will be like later this year.

I find it interesting that while 3 Louisiana cities are on the list, including the one where I work and one close to where I live, New Orleans is NOT there. I wonder if this is because the violent sector never moved back post-Katrina exodus, or if because the tourism commission paid someone enough to keep it off the list…

I live 5 minutes from #19. True about that city, but I thought Philly would outrank it. 20 mins from Philly. I know a lot of people from # 19, Chester, Pa. It’s a shame because it used to be a nice place,

It’s laughable there is no mention of Chicago but my city of Spartanburg? Yeah it has some crime but no where near that amount!

Many cities are underrated because this is “violent” vs. murder and assault. My hometown of Baton Rouge would be in the top 5 for murder rate, but many other violent crimes are absent.
